In 2018 he decided to continue his education and sporting career in the United States of America at Purdue University. "This is exactly what I was looking for when I was in high school, because I knew that I wanted to keep on swimming, but I also wanted to continue my education. So, going to the US was pretty much the only option for me, because this is the only place in the world when we can do something like that. I'm glad that we have a team at Purdue, because at a team with such atmosphere it's much easier than just training on your own with a few teammates around which is how high school looked for me back home. It's much easier when you have 20-30 guys pushing each other every day. It's easier to put in the hard work. After three years there I can say it was the right choice and I hope that the two upcoming years will be even better. I want to stay in the United States and swim until the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris and then we will see. Maybe I will retire."
