General Interest

General
UNIVERSITY CLASS
During her senior year at the University of California, Berkeley she led a two-credit class on female student-athlete leadership at the School of Public Health. Each Thursday she held the class, with about 30 student-athletes attending. "The first couple of weeks I wanted to get to know the class and create a safe environment for people to start talking. The goal is for the students to engage with these speakers, ask questions and gain tools that they can use with their teams and learn more about themselves as leaders." (scmp.com, 13 May 2016; calbears.com, 22 Jan 2016)

LEADERSHIP
She was team captain while at the International School of Beijing between 2009 and 2011. She was also co-captain during her senior year at the University of California, Berkeley. "I've learned leadership. There are a million definitions for that, but I came in thinking I'm not a leader. I can't be captain. I've learned more about myself, what my strengths are, what my weaknesses are and how can I elevate my strengths to be a leader. I just think that everyone has something in them that they can contribute, and it's about bringing those traits out." (calbears.com, 22 Jan 2016; swimswam.com, 22 Dec 2015)

FURTHER STUDY
Between 2017 and 2019 she studied a master of philosophy degree in industrial and organisational psychology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. (LinkedIn profile, 01 Jan 2019)

FAMILY BACKGROUND
Her father is from Chinese Taipei, and her mother is from France. She was born in Hong Kong, China and attended the French International School, until her family moved to Beijing, People's Republic of China, when she was nine. (scmp.com, 13 May 2016; calbears.com, 22 Jan 2016)
