His father passed away in 2004 and he wanted to help his mother by pursuing a career in swimming. "My dad got in a car accident when I was age two. He was paralysed below the neck. My mother had two kids and had to take care of her husband. Probably it was the toughest thing that I see from a person. She sacrificed so much.
