General Interest

General
The 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo will be Hungary's 13th Olympic appearance in the men's 4x100m medley relay, with the team yet to win an Olympic medal in the event. They have progressed to the final in eight of their previous 12 appearances, with fifth-place finishes at London 2012 and Sydney 2000 representing their best performances. At the 2016 Games in Rio, they recorded the ninth-fastest time in the heats and did not qualify for the final.

Hungary have reached the podium twice at the world championships, winning consecutive bronze medals in 1994 and 1998. At the 2019 edition in Gwangju, they were unable to make the final and ranked 12th. In 2017 they progressed to the elite race before placing seventh.

The Hungarian team have enjoyed the majority of their success at continental level. They have won a total of nine European championship medals, including three consecutive third-place finishes between 2012 and 2016, although they have never won gold. In home water at the European championships in 2021, they did not reach the final and ranked 10th.
