General Interest

General
LATE BLOOMER
She was age 22 when she made her senior international debut for Germany at the 2018 European Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. At the time she said she remained realistic about what she could achieve in the sport, having joined the national squad later than most swimmers. "I think becoming Olympic champion is an unrealistic idea if you look at my age and where I am now. I am already 23 [in 2018], so time is limited. I am just taking everything six months at a time." (Heimspiel Fanmagazin YouTube channel, 28 Oct 2018; lsv-sachsen.de, 05 May 2018)

STUDIES
She began a degree in psychology at the University of Leipzig in 2016. She expects to graduate in 2021, and says studying provides essential balance to her swimming career. "My main focus is on sport, and the faculty helps support me in this where possible. My studies are a mental balance to my swimming training. I definitely enjoy it, but it is sometimes a challenge to juggle the two." (l-iz.de, 05 Feb 2019)
