She was originally involved in artistic gymnastics before her father encouraged her to start swimming. She tried both artistic gymnastics and swimming together for one year before she decided to focus fully on swimming. "My father, Vladimir, loved swimming during his childhood in Ukraine. Every time I jump into the water, I have a high motivation to improve my ability. I know I have a lot more to improve.
