General Interest

General
TOKYO 2020 FOCUS
He was released by New Zealand rugby union club the Chiefs in late-2019 in order to rejoin the New Zealand sevens team for the 2019/20 season and focus on preparing for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. "I guess the hardest thing to get used to is the fitness. Obviously, everyone knows about the sevens fitness regime and how crazy it is, but the transition has been all good. The guys and coaches have made it easy for me, and I've fallen back into the setup quick. I know most of these boys too, because when I was first here, most of them were here as well so it's been good to get back." (allblacks.com, 21 Jan 2020; superrugby.co.nz, 25 Nov 2019)

LEAGUE TO UNION
At age 15 he signed a five-year contract with the New Zealand rugby league side the New Zealand Warriors. After graduating high school, he decided he wanted to play rugby union [15-a-side] instead and the New Zealand Warriors and New Zealand Rugby [union] came to an agreement for him to get out of his contract and switch sports.
