"I used to play handball in Rostov-na-Donu. Our team began to disperse and just at that moment a rugby coach appeared. I was invited to a training session but only in rugby league. I refused for a long time, but then my parents persuaded me. I went and ended up staying. I played for Rostov in rugby [13-a-side], then for the national team, and at the 2008 World Cup even got into the all-star team.
