She switched from athletics to playing rugby. "We have a family of track and field athletes, starting with my grandfather. Dad is also an International Master of Sport in triple jump. At first, Arina [her twin sister] and I were sent to pole vaulting. When we stopped doing pole vault because the results were not going well, our friends invited us to try American football. There was no women's team in Chelyabinsk, and we trained with the guys. Once a friend of ours said that the RGUTIS-Podmoskovye rugby team needed girls who had stopped doing athletics but wanted to continue their sports career. And, without hesitation, my sister and I went to the try-out session." (rugby.ru, 05 Jul 2021; sports.ru, 24 Mar 2019)
