He took up rugby sevens in 2015 when he was playing rugby union [15-a-side] for Lansdowne in Ireland and was invited to join the newly-formed national rugby sevens squad. "I hadn't a clue about sevens. I had watched it on TV growing up but never really thought of it as something you could get into. It just wasn't a thing in Ireland. Even when I got asked to go, I still wasn't sure if I wanted to be involved. Thankfully, I went for it. Not too many people can say they were there for the start of the journey and I'm glad I did it." (the42.ie, 04 Jul 2021)

General Interest

General
OCCUPATION
He has worked part-time as a solutions consultant for a cybersecurity firm in Dublin, Ireland. "Having that external stimulus outside rugby has been great because it's not the be all and end all. If you have a bad day's training, you don't take it home because you're too busy working and trying to get things done. That has been invaluable for me. At the moment, sevens is probably not an option as a long-term career. Hopefully, in the next couple of years, it's something people can get into and have a real crack at. But I'm playing rugby with my friends and travelling the world, so I can't have too many complaints." (the42.ie, 04 Jul 2021; LinkedIn profile, 01 Mar 2021)

FURTHER EDUCATION
After he graduated with a bachelor's degree in business and commerce at University College Dublin in Ireland in 2017, he studied for a higher diploma in cybersecurity at the National College of Ireland in Dublin from 2019 to 2020. (Athlete, 22 Jul 2021; LinkedIn profile, 01 Mar 2021)
