He was captain of his school's rugby team and took part in rowing as a form of cross training. "I started as a way to keep fit for the rugby season. I must admit that I did grow up and dream of being a professional rugby player but that never really happened, and rowing is something I've grown to love." General Interest

General
FROM YALE TO GREAT BRITAIN EIGHT
After graduating from Yale University in the United States of America, where he competed for the varsity rowing team, in 2017 he joined the Great Britain men's eight boat and was one of the more inexperienced team members. "Coming out of a university programme where I was one of the older athletes there and more experienced guys, now [in the Great Britain men's eight] I almost feel like I'm the kid again. It's always a learning experience every day. I'm trying to pick up as much information off the older guys and ask them as many questions as I can. I think it's important for all of us to feel that way, and that's what creates such an effective training atmosphere, because everyone strives to win and everyone strives to be the best." (eurosport.com, 21 Jun 2018; sg.news.yahoo.com, 20 Jun 2018)

OCCUPATION
He works part-time in London, England, as an alumni admissions interviewer for Yale University. He interviews prospective international students from the United Kingdom. From 2017 to 2020 he worked at a university admissions consultancy firm, providing advice to applicants for rowing scholarships at US universities. (LinkedIn profile, 01 Jun 2020)
