General
LEARNING TO SWEEP
He grew up rowing at Hollowell Scullers club in Northamptonshire, England, before learning how to sweep at age 19 at Newcastle University in England. "I do miss sculling, I think it's a very useful skill. If you look at our [Great Britain men's eight] crew at the moment, four of us were scullers before we swept, four of us only learnt to sweep at uni, myself, Tom Ford, Jacob [Dawson] and Josh Bugajski. I think being a good sculler really helps learning to sweep. The general skills of boat-moving is you want to learn how to move your own weight first before you can think about moving anyone else's." FURTHER EDUCATION
In 2015 while studying at Newcastle University he was made captain of the university's rowing team. After completing his bachelor's degree in history and politics, he went on to study for a master's degree in history, also at Newcastle University.
