"I played a lot of football [soccer] and Gaelic football growing up. I came from a GAA [Gaelic Athletic Association] house for sure and I didn't actually join a hockey club until I was 16 but it was the thought of the Olympics and representing Ireland that saw me pursue the sport. General Interest

General
PLAYING ABROAD
Between September 2018 and May 2019 she played for Dusseldorfer Hockey Club 1905 in Germany. "It's not something I'm used to so to have these clubs wanting to sign you is cool and a big confidence boost. Due to that experience and the progress of the national team I'm more comfortable with the player I've become." (LinkedIn profile, 01 Jan 2020; the42.ie, 08 Jun 2019)

FROM HOCKEY TO GAELIC FOOTBALL
After she was left out of the national hockey team for the final qualifier for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and the World League Round 2 event in 2015, she decided to take a break from the sport and play Gaelic football. "Considering the matches were taking place in Dublin, I felt demoralised and went to play club football with Kilmacud Crokes for the summer. I really enjoyed it but I wasn't going to leave hockey on those terms. I wasn't giving up on it like that. After coach Darren Smith left when we failed to qualify for Rio, and with players retiring, I had another chance." (the42.ie, 08 Jun 2019)

COLLEGE EXPERIENCE
She played the 2012/13 collegiate season for Northeastern University in Boston, MA, United States of America. (LinkedIn profile, 01 Jan 2020; nuhuskies.com, 2012)
