General Interest

General
Argentina qualified for Tokyo 2020 by winning gold at the 2019 Pan American Games, where they beat Chile 31-27 in the final. It was their seventh consecutive medal at the Pan American Games, a run that stretches back to 1995, and the team's second title.

Argentina first competed at the Olympic Games in 2012, where they were ranked 10th out of 12 teams - a result they repeated four years later in Rio de Janeiro. Their sole victory in Rio was a 23-21 win over Tunisia, and among their defeats were 25-19 and 31-24 losses to eventual champions and runners-up, Denmark and France, respectively.

The Argentinian team have appeared at every edition of the world championship since 1997. Their best ranking is an 11th-place finish, which they achieved at the 2021 edition of the tournament in Egypt.

Argentina have been the dominant team at the Pan American championship in recent years, claiming seven titles, four runners-up honours, and one third-place finish between 1996 and 2018.
