Both of his parents played the sport at international level with Argentina. "My parents were athletes and they gave me a passion for the sport. That helped me become what I am now. I am a professional because I enjoy what I'm doing. I like training and being fit, but above all, I am in love with handball and I play every game as if it were my last. Sometimes that's a disadvantage, but it is that passion that keeps me going in the end." (pasionhandball.com.ar, 13 Jun 2016; ar.deportes.yahoo.com, 19 Dec 2011)

General Interest

General
RETIREMENT PLANS
He plans to retire from international competition after the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. He also aspires to compete at the 2020 Games alongside his two younger brothers Diego and Pablo. "After the [2020] Games I will not be with the National Team anymore. I have it very clear. It breaks my heart every time I say it, but it is a completed cycle. I know that it is my last tournament, that I would like to arrive and play with my brothers. I was never allowed to play with the two at an Olympic Games, and today it's the last dream I have left, I have no other. Luckily I was able to fulfil many other dreams, but this is my biggest motivation today. It makes me get up at 06.30 to train and at night return to train. That's why I continue, I follow Tokyo." (clarin.com, 11 Dec 2019; lanacion.com.ar, 11 Dec 2019)

OTHER ACTIVITIES
He serves as president of the Argentinean Handball Confederation's [CAH] Athletes Commission. "The idea is to help athletes and for that we want to improve handball, improve the conditions in which they train, solve daily problems or those that arise and contribute ideas." (clarin.com, 11 Dec 2019)

OVERSEAS EXPERIENCE
He played 15 years of club volleyball in the European leagues of France and Spain. In 2019 he returned to Argentina in order to spend more time with his family, and joined his boyhood club SAG Villa Ballester in Jose Leon Suarez, Argentina. "I left [for Europe] being a mother's baby, who didn't know how to make noodles and I almost didn't know how to speak English. I came back knowing and loving cooking, speaking languages, knowing a lot of places and with thousands of friends everywhere. I returned very full to the point of overflowing, in the sense of needing to stop a little and enjoy the family more." (clarin.com, 11 Dec 2019)

FAMILY AFFAIR
He has competed alongside his two younger brothers Diego and Pablo in the Argentinian national team. "As I am the oldest, I can share the experience of all my years in handball with them, but we all have things to share. For instance, because of his youth, Pablo often tells me he wants to do 'crazy' moves, so we practise and then go for it. I am more conservative than him, but he motivates me to be more creative on the court." (canchallena.lanacion.com.ar, 21 Jan 2015)
