General Interest

General
PLAYING MEN'S FOOTBALL
In 2015 she was advised by the New Zealand national coaches to play men's football in order to improve her game, so she joined the Ferrymead Bays men's reserve team in Christchurch, New Zealand. "It started paying dividends after probably the first training. Just playing at a consistently high level. The guys are a bit faster and play the ball a bit quicker, so just being involved in two or three training [sessions] a week and a game is paying off. There's a couple of players or a couple of coaches who've been maybe a little bit taken aback. Just in terms of it's not the norm for a woman to be playing in a men's league. Overall I can't complain. The guys have been great, they've been welcoming and some of them have actually come up and said to me how it's great to see someone doing this to try and improve their own game."
