EARLY DAYS
At age nine, both she and her older sister Amy entered trials for Norwich City's Centre of Excellence football programme, but only her sister Amy was accepted. "For her to get in and me not to was quite difficult but at that age you just get on with it and pick yourself up." Lauren was accepted onto the programme the following year and was part of Norwich City until the centre was closed when she was age 16. After a brief spell with her previous team, she moved away from home to join Bristol City. "I was still so young, only 16, when I moved to Bristol, but I went to look at their facilities and their college set up and everything was perfect for me. It's a bit of a journey from Norwich to Bristol but I made the decision go and live there and it's probably the best decision that I made, bar signing for [Manchester] City. It's helped me to become the player and person that I am today." (dailymail.co.uk, 21 Mar 2021; edp24.co.uk, 23 Sep 2020)
