Roger Kluge and Theo Reinhardt began competing together in the madison at international level in 2018. Kluge is a three-time Olympian on the track and winner of the silver medal in the points race at the 2008 Games in Beijing, while the younger Reinhardt won a silver medal in team pursuit at the 2014 European Championships.

The pair claimed back-to-back world titles in 2018 and 2019. However, at the 2020 World Championships they could only manage bronze behind pairings from Denmark and New Zealand.
