General Interest

General
ENDOMETRIOSIS
She had gynaecological surgery for the womb condition endometriosis in 2016. The operation led to a significant reduction in the amount of pain she was experiencing, and she has since become an ambassador for Endometriosis New Zealand. "It's important to get the word out. It would have been such a relief as a younger athlete to be told it wasn't normal to be doubled over in pain. I remember one of my coaches saying, 'Oh she can't do that because she has a womanly problem'. That language is so disempowering. We need them to say uterus, say period, say ovaries. The more we talk about it, the less taboo it becomes. We should be empowering and educating the male coaches on how to approach these conversations, rather than avoiding them." (newsroom.co.nz, 08 Sep 2020; Instagram profile, 08 Sep 2020)

FURTHER EDUCATION
She has studied for a master's degree in sports psychology. (Twitter profile, 19 Nov 2020)
