FAMILY BEGINNINGS
Her family were all involved in basketball when she started out in the sport. "My first two years, my mum and my older brother Jermaine were my coaches. Obviously, having them there could be frustrating. There would be days I would want 'mum' but she was 'coach'. The importance of that experience is that it really built the foundation of who I am as a player and as a person because all those challenges I had to face were beneficial for me in what I do today." (sportsnet.ca, 01 Mar 2021)

BROTHER'S DEATH
In 2017 her brother Jermaine passed away. She points to the sky before each free throw shot she takes in his memory. "[With] all these uncertainties happening in the world, I just kind of reflect back to my personal situation and not taking life for granted, living every day to its fullest and just being more appreciative of life, because it can get taken away from you at any point." (cbc.ca, 17 Feb 2021)
