He played baseball and was close to signing a MLB contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers, but a wrist injury in 2013 ended his baseball career and prompted his switch to athletics.

Battled mental health issues while competing in Europe in 2020 and was worried about Covid-19 after contracting swine flu in 2009.
First-time Olympian. One of Liberia's flag-bearers during the 2020 OG opening ceremony. 'One memorable moment for me was exchanging pins with different countries before we walked. Until I got here, I didn't know pins were a big thing.' His parents emigrated from Liberia to the USA and settled in Minnesota. 'I think I get all my speed from my mum, but I have my dad's legs.'
