General Interest

General
Poland are making their 10th Olympic appearance in the 4x100m relay in Tokyo, more than 60 years after winning bronze on their debut at the 1960 Games. Four years later at the 1964 Games in Tokyo they won gold, which made them the second European nation after the Netherlands to win an Olympic title in the event. But while they have contested several finals since then, they are yet to return to the Olympic podium, with a fifth-place finish in 2008 their best result since the triumphant 1964 Games. At the 2012 and 2016 Games they failed to progress from their heat.

Poland are yet to claim a medal at the world championships, and did not take part in the two most recent editions of the tournament. They secured their place in Tokyo after making the final of the 2021 World Relays, where they won silver behind Italy.
