When she was in third grade at primary school she was unable to go to sports classes because of an eye condition that had required surgery. The following year she was able to take up basketball, and in the sixth grade she won a children's tetrathlon. A local coach then convinced her to get involved in athletics. "At the beginning I thought that basketball was more interesting. But the longer I trained in athletics, the more I discovered its beauty.
