FROM KARATE TO ATHLETICS
He took up karate in his first year of primary school, but after ten years in the sport decided to focus on athletics following an injury. "In karate, I was winning medals at national championships and international events, and earned a black belt. Unfortunately, during a national event I fractured my right hand. I was very disappointed, because it was before the national championships and I couldn't fight for medals. One of my friends from karate also did athletics, so I contacted her coach to assess me, as I didn't want to lose my shape. He was satisfied my level was similar to athletes who had already trained for some time. After recovering from the injury I tried to combine both sports, but it was not easy. Quite often I suffered injuries during karate events and I didn't enjoy the sport as much as before, so I decided to quit and focus on athletics." (lodz.pl, 22 Sep 2020)
