Her mother, a former artistic swimmer, encouraged her to try the sport. She was involved in both gymnastics and artistic swimming, but preferred artistic swimming so pursued that. "I really enjoyed swimming and the feel of the water and in 2012 I decided I really wanted to focus on synchro. In the past my mum was a synchro swimmer.
