The Virgin Islands, British made its Olympic debut at the 1984 Games in Los Angeles, where competitors from the NOC participated in athletics and sailing. The Virgin Islands, British has sent teams to compete at every edition of the Games since 1984.
Sprinter Tahesia Harrigan-Scott first competed at the 2008 Games in Beijing, placing 17th in the women's 100m. She also represented the Virgin Islands, British at London 2012 and Rio 2016 to become the first athlete from the NOC to compete at three editions of the Olympic Games.
At the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro, swimmer Elinah Phillip became the first competitor to represent the Virgin Islands, British in a sport other than athletics or sailing at the Olympic Games. She placed 48th in the women's 50m freestyle at age 16 years and 132 days, which made her the youngest British Virgin Islander from any sport to have made an Olympic appearance.
The oldest athlete at the Olympic Games for the Virgin Islands, British is sailor Robin Tattersall, who competed in the Soling class at the 1992 Games at age 62 years and 14 days.
