General Interest
Liechtenstein's first appearance at an Olympic Games came in 1936 in Berlin, where the NOC entered six male athletes in cycling, athletics and shooting events. It was not until 1976 that the first women represented the NOC when twin sisters Helen and Maria Ritter competed in athletics events.
Only two athletes representing the NOC have competed at more than two editions of the Olympic Games. Manuela Marxer competed in heptathlon three times and 100m hurdles once during her four Games appearances between 1984 and 1996. Oliver Geissmann is a three-time Olympian, competing in the 10m air rifle at the 2000, 2004 and 2008 Games.
At the 2016 Games in Rio, three athletes represented Liechtenstein in swimming and tennis.
