She had planned to retire from competitive swimming after the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo until the Games were postponed for a year. "The 2021 Olympic Games, that is my new plan. It will certainly be a year with many challenges, adjustments and also a certain amount of uncertainty, but I will accept this challenge and again subordinate everything to swimming for another year." At the 2012 Olympic Games in London she became the first swimmer from Liechtenstein to compete at the Olympic Games.
