General Interest

Cyprus first competed at the Olympic Games in 1980 in Moscow, where the NOC was represented by a team of 14 athletes that competed across swimming, judo, and sailing events.

The NOC's sole Olympic medal to date came in sailing at the 2012 Games in London, where Pavlos Kontides won silver in the men's Laser.

Four Cypriot athletes share the honour of having made the most appearances for the NOC at the Olympic Games. Shooters Antonis Nicolaides [1992, 1996, 2004, 2008] and Georgios Achilleos [2000 - 2012], high jumper Kyriakos Iaonnou [2004 - 2016], and sailor Andreas Cariolou [2004 - 2016] have all competed at four editions of the Games.
