General Interest
The Cayman Islands was represented by two sailors on its first appearance at the Olympic Games in 1976 in Montreal, where Geoffrey Kirkconnell and Peter Milburn competed in the 470 class.
After missing the 1980 Games in Moscow, the NOC sent eight athletes to Los Angeles 1984 and has been represented at every edition of the Games since. Caymanian athletes have competed in track cycling, road cycling, sailing, swimming, and athletics during that time.
Sprinter Cydonie Mothersill was part of the Cayman Islands delegation at five editions of the Olympic Games between 1996 and 2012, and has made more Olympic appearances than any other Caymanian athlete. Her best result came in the 200m at the 2008 Games in Beijing, where she reached the final and placed eighth.
