General Interest

Olympic champions at the Lillehammer 1994 Olympic Winter Games, the Italian team has faced mixed fortunes since then.

A fourth place finish at Nagano 1998 and silver medal at Salt Lake City 2002 preceded a fourth-place finish at their home Games in 2006, where they only qualified for the A-final after being interfered with in their semi-final. Disqualified in the semi-finals at Vancouver 2010 and an eighth-place finish in Sochi in 2014.

At PyeongChang 2018 Games, the Italian team did not make the cut for the relay at all, having dropped to 11th in the world rankings.

The team has won nine World Championship medals, including two gold, with the most recent a bronze medal at the 2004 World Championships held in Gothenburg.

The team qualified for the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games with a world ranking of fifth. They won a bronze medal at the 2021/22 World Cup in Beijing.
