Team Skaslien/Nedregotten

General Interest

Norway earned Olympic bronze four years ago, but Kristin Skaslien and Magnus Nedregotten yearn to stand atop the podium the “right way” in Beijing. They had originally lost the bronze medal game 8-4 to Olympic Athletes of Russia (OAR) who were then disqualified for a failed doping test, and the Norwegians were flown back to Korea to receive their medals.

Norway finished the PyeongChang round-robin 4-3, tied with PR China’s Wang Rui (who returns to Beijing with the women’s team) and Ba Dexin. Skaslien/Nedregotten defeated the Chinese 9-7 in a tiebreaker before losing the semi-final 8-4 to Canada.

At the World Championships, Norway has one silver and one bronze, both won by this team. They finished second at the 2021 worlds behind Great Britain's Team Dodds/Mouat, losing the final in Aberdeen by a 9-7 count. They won bronze at Sochi in 2015 by defeating Canada 9-4.

The pair, who are married, have represented Norway at every world shootout since 2013, winning a total of 69 games and losing 15. Nedregotten leads all male competitors with 60 career victories, nine more than the second-ranked athlete.

Skaslien/Nedregotten are 22-11 in head-to-head matchups against the field in Beijing. This includes 11 victories over Switzerland (against five losses), including seven in a row dating back to the 2019 Curling World Cup Grand Final in Beijing. They are 5-2 against Czech Republic, 2-1 versus Sweden, 2-2 against Italy and 1-1 versus Great Britain.

They are 18-6 this season, scoring an average of 11.47 points per game while surrendering an average of 6.75. This resulted in two World Curling Tour event victories, at Bern and Gothenburg, and a bronze finish at Tallinn.

World Ranking: 3rd (57.410 pts)
