Team Constantini/Mosaner

General Interest

Italy makes its debut in mixed doubles at the Olympic Winter Games in Beijing.

At World Championships Italy has finished in the top-10 only three times, with the highest-ranking occurring in 2021 when Stefania Constantini and Amos Mosaner finished fifth with a 7-3 record, including a 7-6 victory over eventual champions Scotland. They were eliminated in the playoff qualification round by Norway.

Mosaner competed in the 2019 World Mixed Doubles Championship with his off-ice partner Alice Cobelli, finishing 18th with a 5-2 record. Mosaner, who plays third on the Italian men’s team in Beijing, was convinced by Italian curling officials to team up with women’s team skip Stefania Constantini for a run at a mixed doubles berth at Beijing 2022.

Mosaner’s men’s teammate Simone Gonin is also an accomplished mixed doubles player, having represented Italy at four previous World Championships between 2012 and 2018.

Constantini/Mosaner are 5-5 in head-to-head matchups against the field in Beijing, with a 2-2 record against Norway. They are 15-6 this season on the World Curling Tour, with runner-up finishes at Biel and Tallinn. Their points scored per game average is 9.55 against 6.79 points surrendered.

Italy qualified fifth for Beijing 2022 after finishing in a tie for fifth place (with Switzerland) at the 2021 World Mixed Doubles Championship in Aberdeen.

World Ranking: 13th (20.491 pts)
