OLYMPIC GAMES HISTORY
With the exception of the St. Louis 1904 Olympic Games, Sweden has competed at every Olympic Games and every Olympic Winter Games.
The Swedes are one of the top countries at the Olympic Winter Games, winning 158 medals including 57 gold (164 and 60 including the figure skating and ice hockey events held at the Olympics Games).
Sweden's best sport/discipline has been cross-country skiing, in which it has won 80 medals (31 gold). Sweden set a national best of 15 medals won at a single edition of the Olympic Winter Games at Sochi 2014. Cross-country skiers accounted for 11 of these medals, with gold in the men's and women's relay teams.
Sweden has won 661 medals and 205 gold medals. The most successful Swede at the Olympics was canoeist Gert Fredriksson collecting six gold, one silver, and one bronze between 1948 and 1960. In addition to Jernberg, cross-country skier Charlotte Kalla has won nine medals with three golds (2010, 2014, 2018). Sport shooter Alf Swahn also won nine medals with three golds.
