OLYMPIC GAMES HISTORY
The Confederacao Brasileira de Desportos (CBD), founded on 20 August 1914, was the first sporting body from Brazil affiliated with the Olympic Games. The National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Brazil was formed on 20 May 1935 and recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) later that year. Brazil has competed at every Olympic Games since 1920, with the sole exception of 1928.

Brazil has competed eight times at the Olympic Winter Games, continuously since 1992.

Brazil has been represented by 35 Winter Olympians (25 men, 10 women) across eight sports - Alpine, cross-country and freestyle skiing, biathlon, bobsleigh, figure skating, luge and snowboarding.

It has had one top-10 finish at the Olympic Winter Games, a ninth by Isabel Clark in 2006 (snowboard cross).

Two Brazilians have competed four times at the Olympic Winter Games, with bobsledder Edson Bindilatti (2002, 2006, 2014, 2018), and Jacqueline Mourao, who competed in biathlon and cross-country skiing (2006, 2010, 2014, 2018). In total, Mourao has competed at seven different Olympic Games, as she also competed in mountain biking in the summer edition (2004, 2008, 2020), and is one of only eight Olympians to compete at both editions of the Olympic Games in three different disciplines.

Brazil has won 150 Olympic medals (37 gold medals), all at the Olympic Games, the most medals by any South American country. Its best performance was at Tokyo 2020 with 21 medals (seven golds).

Robert Scheidt, a sailor, is the most successful Brazilian Olympian with five medals (two golds, two silvers, one bronze). Another sailor, Torben Grael, has also won five medals (two golds, one silver, two bronzes), while swimmer Gustavo Borges, volleyballer Escadinha, and sprint canoeist Isaquias Queiroz dos Santos have won four medals each.
