OLYMPIC GAMES HISTORY
After declaring independence from Yugoslavia, Bosnia and Herzegovina formed its National Olympic Committee in June 1992 in the hope of competing at the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games in July. The IOC granted it provisional recognition, allowing it to compete before full recognition was given in 1993. Despite civil war, it made its Olympic Winter Games debut at Lillehammer 1994.
Since then, Bosnia and Herzegovina has competed at seven Olympic Winter Games in five disciplines - Alpine skiing, biathlon, bobsleigh, cross-country skiing and luge. It has been represented by 30 Winter Olympians (21 men, nine women), with its best finish coming at Nagano 1998 when Alpine skier Enis Becirbegovic placed 21st in the men's downhill.
The best overall Olympic performance came at Tokyo 2020 when Nedzad Husic made the quarterfinals of men's featherweight in taekwondo, while in athletics, Amel Tuka made the final of the men's 800m, finishing sixth.
