OLYMPIC GAMES HISTORY
The National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belgium was formed in February 1906 and recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in the same year.
First competed at the Olympic Winter Games at Chamonix 1924, but also competed in figure skating and ice hockey in 1920. The country missed the 1960 and 1968 Olympic Winter Games.
They have won six medals and one gold medal at the Olympic Winter Games. The gold medal came at the St. Moritz 1948 Olympic Winter Games in pairs figure skating, won by Micheline Lannoy and Pierre Baugniet. They have won two medals in bobsleigh, figure skating and speed skating.
Belgium has competed at every Olympic Games with the exception of 1896 and 1904. Belgium has won 164 medals (45 gold) at the Olympic Games.
Six Belgian Olympians have won four or more Olympic medals, led by archer Hubert Van Innis with 10 medals (six gold medals), both records among Olympic archers, but no Belgian has won more than two Olympic medals since World War II.
