TRAINING WITH 'TEAM THIEM'
He trains under coach Wolfgang Thiem alongside able-bodied Austrian players including Dominic Thiem and Dennis Novak. "In the tennis family of Austria you soon know each other. So we've known each other for a long time. In the summer of 2019, I was at a difficult stage in my career and at a dinner together we said that we would try [to train] together for a few weeks. The wheelchair wasn't an issue at all, he [Dominic Thiem] is just as concerned with me as with all the other players about simply improving our tennis. It's unique in the world that a coach coaches both walking and wheelchair players. Wolfgang is just the same with me as he is with the other players. If I play a forehand badly, he tells me that. When an ATP top coach brings in wheelchair players, it's cool and a great honour. In the beginning I could hardly believe I was there. Dennis put himself in a wheelchair and said, 'We have to take an hour to try this'." (laola1.at, 15 Mar 2021; kurier.at, 18 Jul 2020; sport.tirol, 09 Oct 2020)
