He was encouraged to take up the sport during his rehabilitation with the Soldiers Project, a programme organised by the Danish Olympic Committee [DIF] to assist injured veterans. "One day at the DIF Soldiers Project, they asked if we wanted to play wheelchair rugby. Then we did. We threw six to eight men into separate teams on a handball field, and then we just smashed into each other. It was amazing." (dif.dk, 15 Oct 2019)

Philosophy:

Impairment Details
In 2009 he lost his left leg, part of his right leg, and his left thumb in a roadside bomb explosion while serving with the Danish armed forces in Afghanistan. "I had to cross a ditch, and then I accidentally stepped on a roadside bomb. You say to yourself before going to war, 'Either I come home, or come home in a coffin.'
