He was encouraged to take up the sport during his rehabilitation with the Soldiers Project, a programme organised by the Danish Olympic Committee [DIF] to assist injured veterans. "One day at the DIF Soldiers Project, they asked if we wanted to play wheelchair rugby. Then we did. We threw six to eight men into separate teams on a handball field, and then we just smashed into each other. It was amazing." (dif.dk, 15 Oct 2019)
