General Interest

General
The People's Republic of China booked their ticket to the 2020 Paralympic Games through the 2019 Asia/Oceania Zonal Championships. They are making their fourth Paralympic appearance at Tokyo 2020.

The Chinese team made their Paralympic debut as hosts in 2008. One victory from their four group matches was enough for them to progress to the quarterfinals, where they were beaten by eventual gold medallists, the United States of America. The People's Republic of China also exited the competition at the quarterfinal stage in 2012 and 2016, losing to the Netherlands in London and to Great Britain in Rio.

At the world championship, the Chinese team could only get as far as the quarterfinals in 2010 and 2014. At the 2018 World Championship in Hamburg, they beat five-time world champions Canada in the last eight before going down 54-29 to the Netherlands in the semifinals. Facing Germany in the bronze medal match, the Chinese led by a single point going into the fourth quarter but their opponents outscored them by two points in the final period to claim a 44-43 victory.
