2011 EARTHQUAKE
In March 2011 the walls of her house were cracked in Kumamoto, Japan, and the welfare facility where she worked became a shelter for the victims due to 2011 earthquake off the Pacific coast of Tohoku in Fukushima Prefecture. She was considering withdrawing from the national training camp the following month, but her colleagues encouraged her to continue her sporting career. "They sent me off by saying, 'do your best', despite being exhausted due to lack of people to help out. Thanks to them, I am who I am today. I want to play well and win a medal [at the 2020 Paralympic Games] as I think that it will be the best way to express my gratitude to them." (nishinippon.co.jp, 12 Jun 2021)
