Her father suggested she try Para sports, and she found a leaflet about a wheelchair basketball class at a rehabilitation centre. She participated in the class, and enjoyed the speed in a wheelchair. She was also inspired by the instructor who had represented Japan at the Paralympic Games. "When Tokyo won the bid to host the 2020 Paralympic Games, I thought that I would definitely compete there."
