He took up wheelchair basketball in 2008. (cpcp.org.co, 08 Sep 2020; laopinion.com.co, 24 Nov 2012)

He originally took up swimming after his impairment. He met a wheelchair basketball coach when he arrived for a swimming session and the pool was closed. "This was what filled me with life again. From the moment I sat in the chair and touched the ball, it gave me everything, it gave me life. Feeling the adrenaline, falling, getting up. I liked it a lot and I dedicated myself fully. I owe a lot to wheelchair basketball, it was what helped me get through that time. It was love at first sight." (cpcp.org.co, 08 Sep 2020; laopinion.com.co, 24 Nov 2012; deia.eus, 30 Apr 2021)

To finish in the top eight at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo. (cpc.org.co, 20 Apr 2021)
:
Winning a silver medal at the 2011 Parapan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico. "I think there are many [memorable achievements], but the one that helped me to get to Spain and go to the Paralympic Games in London in 2012, was to be runner-up at the Parapan American Games of Guadalajara 2011. Everything that happened in 2011 and 2012 is what enabled me to launch my career and play in Spain." (cpcp.org.co, 08 Sep 2020)
:
His wife, daughter, and his mother. (cpcp.org.co, 08 Sep 2020)

"Basketball is my life, it is my passion, it is what makes me wake up every day with the illusion of going to work. There is no more happiness for me than to wake up, to see my daughter and my wife supporting me, and then going to do what I enjoy." (deia.eus, 30 Apr 2021)

He has a tattoo dedicated to the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo, which includes the words 'what seems impossible, sometimes takes a while'. (laopinion.com.co, 04 Aug 2021)

OLYMPIC EXPERIENCE
He was part of the Colombian wheelchair basketball team that finished bottom of their group at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London, and he believes his experience in London will help him to perform better at the 2020 Games in Tokyo. "In London I was a 20-year-old boy who did not know the magnitude of what I was facing. Right now [speaking in 2021] what I want the most is to play against the greats, which is what I like. We hope that in these tournaments luck is on our side, and with God's help we finish in the top eight." (laopinion.com.co, 04 Aug 2021)

MOVE TO SPAIN
He moved to Spain after he was approached by a scout from Spanish club Adapta Zaragoza, who had watched him play at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London. "He took me to a category B team in Zaragoza where I was for two-and-a-half years." (laopinion.com.co, 04 Aug 2021)
