His older brother Jack has competed for the Great Britain age group team in both triathlon and duathlon, while his sister-in-law Alison Peasgood was selected to represent Great Britain in triathlon at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo. In September 2015 he fell off his bike while training 10 days before the World Grand Final in Chicago, IL, United States of America. He began triathlon training in 2009 at WaldenJNR triathlon club in England. He went to a Para triathlon talent identification day in November 2011 in Loughborough, and before the end of that year he had joined the national setup.
