Her father took her to a swimming pool shortly after losing her sight. "I began practising it only like a hobby and as a way of taking my life back. Then, step by step after some swimming competitions and once I overcame my limits a passion for triathlon was born because it gives me this sense of freedom by being in touch with nature." In 2019 she began working with guide Charlotte Bonin, an able-bodied triathlete who represented Italy at the Olympic Games in 2008 and 2016. "It was my sporting group, Fiamme Azzurre, which put me with a very good guide like 'Charlie'. She allows me to have these beautiful experiences and as she is so strong she gives me the chance to win. We live far away from each other. I always say we unite Italy from one side to the other because she lives in Aosta and I in Reggio Calabria. But, despite being far from each other we are a winning couple. We talk very often and we have a group of coaches that keep us united, making this distance between us almost non existent."
