His wife Esther Morales has represented Spain in Para swimming. She won bronze in the S10 100m backstroke at the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing and two bronze medals in the S10 100m backstroke and S10 50m freestyle at the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens. She also competed in the 2000 and 2012 Paralympic Games and won two gold medals and two bronze at the 2002 World Championships in Mar del Plata, Argentina.
