Impairment Details
Her impairment is the result of multiple sclerosis. (svt.se, 16 Sep 2019)

General
CANCER DIAGNOSIS
In January 2019 she was diagnosed with breast cancer, and in March that year underwent a mastectomy on her right breast. She resumed competing one month after the surgery. "It has been important for me not to be defined by cancer or multiple sclerosis. I'm Anna-Carin. I live with these conditions but my personality has not changed, it is the same as it was before I ended up in a wheelchair. I am the same person but with a little more experience of some things I would rather have escaped. I realised that male table tennis players have a big advantage because you reach much better when you do not have a breast. One of my national teammates said to me, 'Have your arms grown longer, Anna-Carin?'" (anna-carinahlquist.se, 20 Jan 2021; svt.se, 16 Sep 2019)
