:
He was encouraged to try table tennis by his brother, who played at university. He was away from the sport for a period before discovering Para table tennis in 2000. "My brother invited me to play and I liked it. I practised it for two years until I entered university. At the time, Para sports were little-known in Chile so I focused on my studies. In 2000 I saw in a newspaper that there was a Para table tennis exhibition. It drew my attention, I attended the exhibition and took up the sport again with all my strength. I haven't stopped since. At the beginning it was only as a way of practising a sport, but once I realised I played better than I thought, I liked it even more and kept on training." (bsf.cl, 02 Oct 2020)
