General
RECLASSIFICATION
In 2019 he was reclassified as an S9 swimmer because a tumour on his right sciatic nerve had grown and began to impair the function and coordination of his lower right leg. "It emerged that when I kick a lot, I completely lose coordination of my lower right leg. That's what happened in London [world championships in 2019], in the second part of the 100m freestyle. I lost all the advantage I had accumulated over my opponents, because of a lack of coordination. Classification as S9 does more justice to my impairment. I did not feel at all on par with my colleagues in the S10 classification. The difference was clear. A new career ahead of me has opened in S9, which has given me new motivation." (swimm4lifemagazine.it, 07 Oct 2019)

OCCUPATION
He works as a swimming instructor at KLAB Fitness Centre in Florence, Italy. (Facebook profile, 24 Feb 2021; swim4lifemagazine.it, 12 Apr 2016)
