She began swimming at age three in Aldaia, Spain. She took up competitive Para swimming at age 15. (Athlete, 10 Sep 2019)

She first learned swimming when the indoor pool in Aldaia, Spain was opened. At age six she was advised by doctors to practise swimming regularly due to back problems. "My parents chose swimming for me because they had just opened the indoor pool in Aldaia. Then, when I was older, it was the doctor who decided I had to keep swimming.
